NHB is named for Dr. Norman Hackerman, a chemist who first taught at UT Austin in 1945 and went on to serve as president of both UT Austin and Rice University. One of the newer buildings on campus, NHB is home to the Department of Neuroscience and many organic chemistry labs, as well as the Health IT program. Students like to take in the view and catch up with friends on the third-floor patio. The recent addition of a sculpture made entirely of canoes has made it a focal point for campus visitors.
At the intersection of 24th and Speedway with the canoe sculpture behind you, turn left. The very tall building on the right, just before the next intersection, is Physics Math Astronomy (PMA).
